I am a veteran broadcast journalist having spent 17 years in radio and TV news. As a news director and managing editor I guided small and large newsrooms and reported on varied beats such as politics, crime and courts, gambling and features.

I have covered various stories including the presidential caucuses in Iowa in 1988, 1992 and presidential campaigns in 1996 and 2000. I have also covered stories such as the Flood of 93 in Des Moines, Iowa, the Whitewater trial of Arkansas Governor Jim Guy Tucker in Little Rock and pedophile allegations against noted southwest artist RC Gorman. You can listen to several radio news reports on the Freelance/Radio News page.

I retired from radio one year after I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis while working in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

I was asked if I missed radio. Yes, I do. I did it everyday for 17 years. But, honestly, I miss a lot of things and radio is just one small sliver of the pie. My passion is still there, but my priorities have shifted to "Life" and "My Wife." That may make sense to some and not at all to others, but being diagnosed with a chronic disease where there is no cure, it all makes sense to me.

I was the guest again to talk about the events of 2005. This year in review program that is a bit different than most you will hear from the Mainstream Media (MSM). Why? Because IT'S NOT BORING! AND IT'S FUNNY!

Guests: Vern Beachy from Memphis, Tennessee, and Jennifer from Hiawatha, Iowa

* Vern talks about his blog site, "Death Week" in Memphis, and the news media.
* Jennifer talks about issues in Cedar Rapids, TV News, the "mini-Martha", and the passing of Peter Jennings.
* Musical Guest: Brother Love with the song "Summertime".

I was also a guest on show #25. Bill wrote this synopsis;

The most significant YATG interview I did was show #47 when I talked about RC Gorman and the current Governor of New Mexico.

Vern Beachy returns for our special 2005 Year In Review Show.  Some of the categories we talk about include the biggest story of the year, the worst news headline, the biggest taxpayer rip-off, the biggest consumer rip-off, the worst manufactured news story, and who is awarded the "Hosebag Of The Year" for 2005.  Vern asks me what I think is in store for podcasting in 2006, what do the networks need to do to lure back viewers for their nightly newscasts, and what was my worst moment of 2005.
